PBA Experience Leagues......for yourself only
« on: February 12, 2009, 04:17:50 AM »
Hey guys!!  I just wanted to put a thought or two out there and wanted to see how you guys react to it, or what you guys perceive...etc......

I bowl on the PBA shot that a somewhat local house puts out on a few pairs on a weekend night for anyone who wants to go tinker around with a PBA shot or practice for their upcoming PBAx leagues, or see where their game is at.

But then there's the catch.

Your motivation has to be entirely centered around yourself and your accomplishments on what the pros play.

If you read enough on here, you hear that you're in no way as good as the guys on TV and you shouldn't even be carrying in their bags into the center.  That's most likely true as the average guy can't hack it or average what the big guys average on the PBAx shots for the most part.  So, you practice on the PBA shots and get better.  But you're still not better than the pros, remember?  So, as for the tour.......well, forget about it.

So then you enhance your skill level thru PBAx situations and bring that skill set to your THS league where your new ability level may result in more honor scores.  Inevitably, those honor scores will be poo-poo'ed by those that say honor scores don't mean anything anymore because of soft conditions and equipment.  Damned if you do..........

So, I guess it's practice for your own personal fulfillment.

Disclaimer:  thoughts inspired by a few Captain Morgan's last night during league.  Thank goodness I have a default designated driver called a wife...

ya know joinin the tour can always be an option lol, you need what a 200+ average on THS and 190 on sport if you train yourself and get good enough who's to say you wont succeed out on tour, those guys weren't always good they got good, so i say why dont we all get good.

or you could get god enough to shoot an honor score in a PBA league. it still counts as a sport honor score even though its not a true sport shot

i hate to agree with that but i def. understand where you're coming my brother in our league last night threw 247 not super impressive but for him yea and i dont even think he broke 600 so its like a fluke and its an insult to the people that practice 3 times a week to be able to shoot that 3 games in a row. i personally just put more weight on consistency then one lucky score unless of course that lucky score happens to be 300 then id be pissed lol

Past or Present scores like this happened. I have seen this. Just that today's game it happens more frequently.

Yeah, well, that's the way it is for me. I practice on tougher shots so I can improve my consistency (through bad shots being punished more harshly) and improve my lane reading (learning how tougher patterns might breakdown over time).

I don't bowl for the big scores, I bowl for the feeling of doing something well. It's why I don't give up when I don't score well, I work harder to figure out what I can do better next time.
