pitch questions.
« on: November 16, 2008, 01:44:47 PM »
I recently switched to lefty because of an injury. I have some skill at it already. average of 145-150 after 8 weeks. not too shabby.

Here is the issue. i had a ball drilled at the local shop, basic copy of right hand to left. I cannot for the life of me get out of the thing right.
thumb issues. 1/8th rev and 1/8th left.
I also at the same time bought a used inferno on here and was told it was 0 0 thumb pitch. span was great on it so I worked the thumb out and have been throwing it since, but the issue with it is after 3 games my thumb, on the side toward the web of my hand (between thumb and index) right at the knuckle swells up with slight pain. Not a sharp pain but not a dull ache either.

What, as far as pitches go, is going to correct this? I think it is pitch issues, but I could be wrong..... (not very often)
Could it also be a bevel issue??

Any suggestions?
I get out of this ball great revs nice easy to throw... but something is just not right with it.

i cannot stress enough that you should find a ball driller who knows how to fit properly. if fitted correctly you should never have any pain in your thumb. when i say fit properly they should at least look at your hand and see how your thumb bends, and how much flexibility you have.

First check your spans, thumb in hole fingers over holes, leading edge of finger holes should be half way between the two finger joints.  If they are OK, try more bevel.  If you're working with a good driller, he will work with you until you get it right.  --  JohnP
