two handed bowling question

For this example the bowler is right handed.

Bowler wants to throw a ball "backup" for a spare. The bowler usually has their right hand under the ball and the left on top. He moves his right hand to the top still using grips and the left is on the bottom. Is it still considered him bowling right handed? The ball is on the right side of his body.

I would guess if the right hand is what is actually putting fingers in the ball then it doesn't matter how or where you put everything else it is the right hand that is in control.

I would not want to try that at all.

I would say that is switching hands which is illegal...

I'm 99.9% sure the determining factor is which side of the body the ball is delivered from. In this case, since the bowler is both "gripping" the ball and delivering from the right side, I think it would be deemed a legal delivery. Still, I'm not really sure why the bowler wouldn't just throw a right-handed cutter (back-up ball) with the RH on the bottom. It sounds a lot easier/more comfortable than starting with the RH on the top. That just seems strange.

My opinion is that as long as the same hand is gripping and throwing the ball, since you can only release with one hand anyway, that as long as your right hand is still the one gripping the holes, it is ok.
