UPDATE: What to do?
« on: March 29, 2014, 07:52:21 PM »
Going up in weight, grip changed, and I'm starting fresh for next season....

Now, how would you get rid of balls you no longer need? I have a dozen used 14 lbs ball sitting in storage, with another 4 being given away to friends.

I'd like to make a little cash, but who buys used 14lbs?  :-\

I can try eBay, but do proshops, or schools buy used balls?

I'd like to make a little $$$ for nibs (3 NIB would be $460 - $500)  - balls are not cheap!

There are several users here who throw 14lb stuff(myself included).

You could make a post in the for sale section, listing what you have for sale, and deal with people directly through this site.

 Then, there is e-bay.

Depending on what they are, you could get some decent offers, especially if they are reasonably recent releases.

I would ebay the NIB balls and donate the rest to a high school program.  You might be able to get a donation receipt from the school and then you can right it off on your taxes.

I joined that group on FB.

The lower end stuff I can give away, but I have (all older balls) 2 balls with 3 games, 2 or 3 with less than 15 games, and then there's the rest I use in rotation - or other balls sitting there less than 25 - 30 games.

I'll try eBay and BR once I locate all the bowling boxes and shipping boxes here at home. Then I'll try youth leagues to donate too.

"Traders beware"!!! I got burned real bad on this site in trading. Don't send your trade until you receive the other ball.

I also belong to the trading groups on FB (racks on racks, bowling ball trading post, etc) but haven't completed any transactions, simply because of payment and shipping issues.

I've found that the best way to sell stuff no longer needed-- word of mouth. Put it out at league nights, and let friends know. They can spread the word, and before you know it-- you'll have offers and new friends.

I've had pretty good luck on here and another online forum. Ebay is prolly the best and safest way to sell and if you use FedEx for shipping through ebay you get a 10- 20% discount but cant remember exactly how much.

14 really shouldn't be that hard of a weight to sell, it's still a pretty common weight.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I donate my used bowling equipment to the proshop and in return get them to drill up my equipment. I like older equipment, so most the time I want a ball, it can't be found in a proshop.

That's a great idea... Trade for drilling...
