NEED HELP FROM DRILLERS
« on: October 23, 2008, 10:32:06 PM »
I hope some ball drillers can help me with this problem.I have a ring finger which is a full half inch shorter than my middle finger. I have always had  my balls drilled pretty conventional but i don't think my ring finger does anything when i release the ball it seems the middle finger does all the work. The ball never seems to come off my hand rolling and takes its time to get into the roll.I feel if both fingers were coming out at the same time i would get a lot more revs and more finish. If i sit the ball on my hand and roll it off slowly the ring finger is out way before the middle finger. The question i'm really asking is can one finger hole be higher or lower to compensate my grip and have them both come out at the same time. I'm sure you drillers have had similer problems over the yrs with bowlers hands and hopefully you can give me some advice, Thanks

My ring finger is about a half an inch smaller than my middle finger also. I do not have any trouble releasing the ball. And I am not a ball driller, just thought I would say that my ring finger is also half an inch shorter than my middle finger.

Put your thumb in its hole and lay your fingers over their holes, stretched enough to make the web between your thumb and ring finger slightly taut.  The leading edge of each finger hole should fall half way between the two finger joints + or - ~ 1/8".  If the ring finger falls closer to the second joint (span is shorter) than the middle finger does you've got a fit problem.  Also, the finger pitches should be based on your joint flexibility and the hole or grip should fit each finger the same.  --  JohnP

Even a mediocre driller would be able to get you spans right no matter the difference in length between your middle finger and your ring finger. You can check it yourself as described in the previous post (last finger joints should be approx in the center of the holes).
