How does your league handle a "vacant" on a team?
« on: February 25, 2016, 12:27:06 PM »
I bowl in a senior league that has one team with only three bowlers.  (can't seem to find another bowler)  Their "vacant" gets about 210 (with handicap) in each game.  This particular team is in first place at the present time and a lot of their success is because of this "vacant" always getting a big score.  How do you handle this in your leagues?

Blind score of 10 pins below average

this is typical for absentees.  a vacant would be a spot that has no bowler; and no average to subtract 10 pins from

Mens league here used a 0 score with handicap, so 0+(90% of 230).

Mixed league used the standard 140 +handicap(72)

At the beginning of the year everyone has a 150 average the first week. When you bowl you set your average. If you do not have a person to fill the spot it gets a 150 for every week it is vacant. This gets the team to look for someone to fill the spot. The leagues around here use that to get teams from loading up with good bowlers and using a high blind score .

We give vacants 165 plus 90% of 230 hdcp. League average is about 191. Basically that team is losing 2.5 pins with that bowler. Not too big of a deal but no rewards.

215 is way to high. In my league, that team would be gaining 2.5 pins. Why would they be rewarded pins? You should try to pass a vote to change that next year.

The men's league in my area is 135 with no handicap. Basically stating, you better fill the team or get a sub each week.

My league is based on 100% of 200, Absent bowlers get minus 20 plus handicap. (=180)
so vacant get 180 without handicap.
