Anyone else recieve the new USBC bowling DVD through the mail? I recieved mine a couple days ago. NOt sure what to think......is this a gimmick for them to make money?....or......are they really trying to get people to improve thier skills to keep them in the game? I guess this could go either way......

USBC tested this concept to a small group last winter and the results allowed them to send the DVDs to a larger number of members.

The program involves a member receiving a free instructional DVD to preview. Then, they have the option to purchase and receive the next DVD in the series, which also includes several free game coupons for practice, send the DVD back, or keep the DVD as a gift. It allows bowlers who might not have access to coaching to receive great tips without any obligation.

Sounds good to me!  USBC can make some money, bowling centers make money because bowlers might come out and practice what they learned, and bowlers might improve their game. Win, win, win!  Could happen!

I personally hate that sort of thing.  I've had magazines that I subscribe to that did the same thing.  They hound you and try to make you feel guilty.  I'd rather just not have to deal with that kind of stuff.

Well it isn't a bad thing if it helps some bowlers. As long as it isn't too much of a spam thing with repeat letters or calls I think it is a good idea.

Gotta agree with smash on this one. The fact that the USBC sends out an "unsolicited" DVD in and of itself is not the problem. The letter they send along with it requiring you to return it or pay 12.95 for the next one is just that...unsolicited. The law states that if someone sends you a product that you did not order you are not required to pay for it and can keep it without payment. Had they said pay 12.95 for the next DVD or keep this as a gift, that would have been a much better approach. They should not dictate an action on anyone else's part because they chose to mail a dvd.

Well I got mine today! Looks okay so far. I like that close up of the hand in the ball at the release.

They had a mistake though. Its when Kim Kearny (I think thats her) say's to subtract 31 from the the pattern length, she say's that gives you the breakpoint.

That's not the breakpoint its the exit point where the ball leaves the oil pattern.


Also they don't tell you the "Regular Price" of the DVD's or the Shipping&Handling charge or how many DVD's there are.

That $12.95 is for the DVD they sent you and to join the program not the cost of the DVD's!

They were being very cagey in how they worded that letter that came with it.

At least you can keep this DVD for free.
