USBC Honor Score Award Changing
« on: August 18, 2014, 10:07:40 AM »
There will be no more awards this season for 299 of any kind and 11 in a row is going away.  I don't know when exactly it changed, but in the 2012-2013 season I had a couple of 299 games.  It made it to bowl.com achievement section under Find a Member as 11 in a row which is no big deal because they can still see what each score of my series is on the achievement section, and I was still able to purchase a 299 ring on keepsakebowling.com.  However, now when you go to keepsakebowling.com, you see 299 rings are now gone because there is no way for them to verify you actually had a 299 game.

To read more about it, go here: http://www.bowl.com/Awards/Awards_Home/2014-2015_High_Score_Awards_FAQ/

IMO, technology is killing bowling.  People want to continually be on their computers, smart phones, notebooks, Ipads, etc. instead of getting exercise (yes, bowling is exercise compared to social media).  Even some bowlers stay on their smart phones to the point they have to be reminded it's their time to bowl.  Hopefully, this too will pass.  --  JohnP

New USBC rule taking effect today  ;D

from here on out a weight hole cant be used at all and the CG has to be with in 3/4" on the center grip line and your fingers and thumb hole have to fit the ball as if your going to throw it normal.  it wont matter if a guy or girl throws the ball with 1 hand or 2  or if he or shes puts there thumb in the ball. everyball has to be with in specs to make the ball legal and there 4 if someone throws a ball with out there thumb or 2 handed a person can still throw that ball with there thumb and the ball still remains legal.  Do you really think that the USBC thought this rule out from every angle possible? thats a big NO!!!  why punish some bowlers but not others  wait is truely fair?  that would be another NO!!!  so now the person that puts there thumb in the ball during there release point gets more options in how he or she able to drill up there equipment do to someone that doesnt? is that fair? once again thats a big NO.  I dont care if it was 2% or 20% that this rule effected, It effected some but not others.  this all started from PBA members crying to the USBC that they was at a disadvantage over a few guys that used 2 hands to throw there ball.  Like the Guy at USBC told me when this new rule was to take place, It would only effect some bowlers but not all. he said they was all ok with that because everyone at the USBC this  rule was not going to effect any by this new rule or 95%  if not higher of the members on the PBA.  he said the 2 handed bowlers or thumbless bowlers could do like everyone else and use there thumb like normal people so I asked him why dont you take your thumb out of the ball and throw it that way, He said he was not able to do that nor could a lot of other bowlers, so there for once again why punish the people that can?

How do you think everyone will take if this was really the new rule.. Its totally fair for every bowler out there which is what you really truely want in a NEW RULE....

How do you think  this year at nationals  is going to be? How do you think there going to police this new gripping rule?  once a person goes up to have his or her ball weight its at that point  how will they know if you do or dont use your thumb there for how would they know where to scale the ball from either being the center of the span if the ball has a normal drilling layout or have them use the middle of the finger holes to scale it out that way?   Once again  I really dont think they thought this rule out as well as they should have.. all a thumbless bowler has to say is they use there thumb when they dont when the ball is weight and  are they going to make that person wear some kinda sticker so they who really is and whos not?   guess they have to figure this one out sooner then later..lol  I guess they brought this all on do to all the PBA members not happy that a couple of guys was able to drill there equipment up when they didnt have the same options in how to drill there stuff up..   how sad is that really?  its really sad!!!

If you want it, go after it and make it happen.  If you don't, you have no one to blame but yourself....or maybe your just not throwing the right equipment  :)
