Since the USBC seems to want to turn the bowling world on it's ear by;
1)Increasing fees
2)Hassling ball manufacturers
3)*Trying to restore integrity to the game
* By whom and according to whom? Oldtimers who remember back in the good ole days when a 200 avg was really deuce? Because you had to be really accurate and be a great spare shooter? HELLLO, doesn't that still apply today? High-tech bowling balls or not you still need to line up and be accurate and know how to adjust to tracked out lanes and carrydown, do you not? Let me see oldtimers, I bet you'd like to take set bowling back 30 years or so wouldn't you? Even with the declining interest in our sport. Bet you'd like to see manhattan and jubileer balls up and down the lanes, right? Oh yeah, all that hard rubber just like back in the day.
Well you know what? This ain't back in the day anymore, this is 2005 and we now have high-tech bowling balls and thats the name of the game. YOU NEED to change and evolve with the sport, if you can't hang with this fast train then get the hell off. I mean, would it make you feel better if we took out the automatic scoring and brought back manual scoring? Yeah, then we can tip the scorekeeper too if we win a side pot. And while we're at it, we'll use manual pinsetters too, might not get out until 1:30 am after starting a 9:00 pm league, but that's all right, we'll be going back to the stoneages, just like the old duffers want it.
Bowlers, we do not need the USBC, they need our dollars and we will not let them dictate to us how the sport should be played. I am going to talk with the general manager at a house who I happen to bowl on the same team with about not sanctioning if the USBC does not stop it's utter stupidity. We as bowlers, can pay money to the house as far as honor score awards go. The house/league will then award the bowler independently of the USBC. Let's say joe bowler tosses a 300 game, league/house would then award him a 300 ring for his accomplishment, or for any other award for that matter. It's the pride of accomplishment that matters most, NOT because it came from some politically driven governing body like the USBC. I truly hope they become extinct due to their arrogance and out of touch thought processes.
