Well hopefully the bowling ball equipment change stays in the discussion phase until the next US Open and Chad lets it fade away (edit:  guess they are releasing some report next month, where hopefully someone reminded the USBC that cover stock chemistry is more the issue than core diff).  Hasn't stopped me from picking up a significant number of high diff balls lately so pretty much good to go for a decade plus assuming no existing equipment bans.  Lol half considering picking up a Visionary Immortal just to give a middle finger to the last diff change.

My biggest problem with the article was it seemed like they were trying to put lipstick on a pig at times.

They were touting that the Open had a 40% increase in entries from El Paso. I contend that the Las Vegas location last year skews those numbers. I would like to know how entries to the Syracuse tournament are going.

I still don't like the added division. If they were going to make a change it should have been to bump up the classified bowlers to 185 or 190. It is suppose to be national scratch championship not the can we figure out a way to get our team/doubles into the middle division. And the average rules have become arcane.

They were happy that membership didn't decline more than the 15 year average was proof that the increase in dues didn't hurt. It might not have but losing 5% to 6% of your membership base each year is not good for the organization. And as the baby boomers go into their senior years the decline will continue.

"The PWBA had its third year since the boards of BPAA and USBC made the decision to relaunch the pro women’s tour. It celebrated more than 100 million digital impressions for the first time and, in collaboration with our bowling campus public relations firm Alday Communications, the PWBA generated another 90-plus million media impressions outside the bowling industry"

If you measure growth in "impressions" instead of dollars is there really growth?

Maybe not, but in today's world, "impressions" are what marketing groups looks at leading to better/more sponsorship of events.

"Impressions" are bullshit as a way to rate something.

I can post a YouTube video of a cat playing with string and get a million "impressions".

Agreed it is factored when looking at market potential etc. Just interesting when referring to something paid to put on tv why that impression is left out.

Money is money and the goal is generating revenue and marketing for your product. I would venture to guess that avoiding the more important numbers that most are concerned with would lead most to believe those numbers aren't worth boasting about.

And you would make a lot of money. Case in point:

There is a huge difference between views/mentions/impressions and actual subscribers to a YouTube channel.

90 million impressions and the PWBA Tour can't even support itself.  That should tell you all you need to know.

Chad is also counting the impressions where people took a look and said to themselves, "meh".

Chad’s message: I’m running this shit, and I say things are great. All sunshine and rainbows here, because we only look at positive data and spin it so it looks even better.

Never mind that the real world numbers say we suck. We’re maintaining a positive attitude around here, and are bound and determined that we’re right, you’re wrong, that bowling is a sport, and that the elite don’t need the journeyman bowlers to make it through this.

So shut up, go away, and quit spouting facts at us. We don’t deal in facts and hard numbers, only in dreams, impressions, and positive reinforcements.

If we say it is so, then it is, because we said it was. No facts needed to support that, because it’s a positive mindset.
Learn to laugh, and love, and smile, cause we’re only here for a little while.
