length of season...
« on: May 12, 2005, 12:08:14 PM »
does anyone besides me think that 36 weeks is just a bit to long of a season. last night was the final night of the season and i found myself dying to get out of there. i would be perfectly happy if we cut it down by 6 weeks, made it a 30 week season and called it quits after that, this way we are done before spring hits and all the other things start getting in the way (like golf, softball, oh yeah spring clean up of the yard etc, softball)  what do you all think?

I have two leagues that I bowled this season- one was a 32 week season that finished the 2nd week of April and the other is a 36 week season that finishes this coming Monday. I enjoy bowling any time of the year so it doesn't matter to me whether it's a long season or short season.

I'd probably be bowling anyway, but yeah, 36 weeks is pretty long.  Especially when you add in the 12-week summer leagues.  That's 48 weeks out of the year for bowling.  We used to have 30-32 week seasons but the greedy proprietor threatens to raise lineage every year unless we tack on more weeks.  It costs a lot of money to drive a Hummer H2, new Corvette, and a Porsche Boxster.

I love league. I think it is perfect and I love how we get one week to regroup and practice before we hit the lanes for league again. Even though it is really hard to not bowl league for a week I still enjoy attending the adult league and just hanging out.

For me, I loved my long leagues. I bowled in 2 of them, one on Thursdays and the other on Sundays. I just finished subing in a men's league which I've never done before for the last 6 weeks of the season, which was cool because before I came in, the team was in 6th. We ended the season as the champs. Right now I'm bowling in 2 Battle of the Sexes leagues on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Just 12 weeks, really short, but the money isn't. $2000 for first place in both houses!
I'm not a great bowler, (196 avg), I just love to bowl. I will be entering more tournaments as time goes because that's the one area I haven't done a lot.
The longer, the better. I tend to do better in the longer leagues.
