When did the USBC change the rule that an 800 series would only count during the first 3 games of a tournament? This past weekend I shot 835 during games 4, 5, and 6 only to find out that it wouldn't count. A few years ago during a tournament I watched someone shoot 879 during games 4, 5, and 6 which he got credit for.

Always thought it was the first three games of the set. Also could depend on who does the paper work.

i always thought it was first 3 or last 3 as long as it was a 6 game block or more. IDK for sure though.

The rule has always been that the score has to be shot in a block of 3.

Games
1 thru 3 or
4 thru 6 or
7 thru 9, etc, etc.

The other guy shot his 4 thru 6. Yours was shot 2 thru 4.

From the USBC rule book.

a. A series shall be figured as follows:
1) If more than three but less than six games are bowled, use the first three games.
2) If six or more games are bowled, use each succeeding set of three games following the first
three games.
b. In tournament play, each three-game series must be bowled in the same block.
c. A series of games can be bowled consecutively against one or more opponents.
d. Games must be bowled on the same date.
