Used Ball Prices
« on: July 06, 2009, 06:14:01 AM »
Just curious what people think are reasonable used ball prices?

Would anyone in their right mind pay $90 shipped for a 5 year old or older ball that has already been drilled 2 and is fully plugged?

Or how about $90 shipped for a ball that the fingers are sgl drill yet the thumb has been drilled 4 times?

When do asking prices go from being on the high side, to just plain retarded?

Eh just saw it as I was scrolling through the FS forums seeing what was available.  Don't want to call anyone out, but was just curious on others feelings.  IMO if something is fully drilled more than once it's not worth any more than $20 as the core is completely changed at this point.  Some people just are clueless and those that may actually buy the balls at that price are even more idiotic.

I can't give the stuff away.I find it more profitable to dump them off somewhere or just do a trade.

I have to agree with all of you on this subject.A new bowling ball is a lot like a new car.Once you drill it you lose value on the ball. There are a lot of people that way over charge for a used ball and not many are even willing to budge. Most get extremely insulted when you find their prices way too high and ask for a better price.Too many drillings kills the core.I have found that out the hard way. When I sell a used ball,if it's a one time drilling I usually won't go any higher than 50.00 and that includes shipping.People get greedy on the shipping charges.I saw a new ball on Ebay the other day and the person was trying to charge 30.00 for shipping 1 bowling ball. That is a total rip off.I ship stuff out every day at my job and know what the costs are for shipping UPS to most states and I can tell you this....rarely are the charges more than 20.00 to the farthest states.
