Hey FBM!
Long time no talk dude...
I actually worked with a youth bowler correcting this problem. I started him off one stepping..this forced him to use his left foot correctly and he even threw it alot more consistent just one stepping! We did this for a few lessons..afterwards, we moved on to a basic 4 step approach in which took more than a few lessons but it was worth it. Beforehand, the kid was averaging around the 120s. With this being corrected, his scores jumped dramatically in the 150s to about 170s maxed.
The reason for wanting to change it is all circumstantial. We do have a guy bowling off the wrong foot in our Scratch League that averages a little over 210 and it works for him. I helped the kid out I was coaching because he was very inconsistent with how he was bowling off the wrong foot.
The moral that basically comes into play is circumstances. If someone is having great success with whatever style, leave it be. If they are struggling and are willing to hear what you have to say to help them improve, then it is worth trying to correct. God Bless You All!
