Used Equipment

Is there much of a market on used equipment anymore???  Remember years ago I could sell some stuff for cheap and not have any issues.  But now; I cant seem to sell anything.

Doesn't seem like it to me.  Looks like many don't want to pay the cost of plugging and re-drilling a used ball and will pay for a brand new ball for a little more.  I just give my older stuff to whoever wants it or leave it on the racks at the bowling center.

It's also the end of the season Maybe 80% or more of the bowlers are not interested in new or used balls.

Some are more interested int he new golf balls .....  :)

my pro shop operator sells used balls including plugging and drilling for about 70.00....I use to buy used balls on ebay but to do that it cost extra for shipping and plau work.....I am located in central Florida

Even new stuff doesn't sell well at this time of year. Beginning the first week of August, you will have much better luck selling both new and used stuff.

 Exact same thing here. They have a rack that always has 25-30 good quality used balls on it, and since they run a couple of shops in the area, they are always changing them out with different stuff.

 If I buy a ball on e-bay for $40, pay $25 to get it shipped to me, and another $75 to get it resurfaced, plugged, and re-drilled, suddenly I've got $140 in a plugged, used ball and I can but new with warranty for just a few bucks more.

 Used to buy lots of used stuff. Matter of fact, my only 800 series was shot with a used ball I bought online here off the forums, but unless it is a rare, hard to find piece, I rarely by used anymore. It just doesn't make fiscal sense anymore, not when I can get great used stuff locally for 1/2 the price.

To me its become harder to sell stuff on BR ever since Facebook has gotten more popular and more ball selling groups. I used to sell stuff easy on here, now I have more success on FB. I hate that too, because the majority of people on this site are trust worthy and I have dealt with before, on fb its not that simple to trust somebody..

We all need to purchase equipment that has longevity manufactured into it and keep balls a longer period of time vs. purchasing the next new thing that comes along.  Also need to research with due diligence and find balls that match up to your style and lane condition mainly used on.  Cost of drilling and non-ability to sell used is why I purchase less than in the past.  I have tried a number of entry line balls looking at what might work for me in the coming year.  There are so many that it's a basic pick your poison.  Longevity of equipment is the main factor I look at.

I purchase mostly used equipment. It's what the budget allows.

My local pro shop has many balls available typically for about $75 plugged, drilled, with thumb slug and finger inserts.

If it is a ball with very low games, less than 10, about $100 out the door. That's the high end stuff.

With pricing like that, it's hard to purchase from here or elsewhere once you have to put shipping in, then plug and redrill.

I try to buy things that either are a real desire or where the span is correct.
