Using An Adjustable Wrist SupportI
« on: March 11, 2005, 03:32:37 PM »
I used to bowl with just two fingers in the ball but have recently swictched to throwing with a thumb.  My average increased because became more consistent and picked up my spares but I couldnt seem to strike as much with the low number of revs i was throwing.  I purchased the Pro Release wrist support and can now put more revs with my thumb in and my avg has increased to the 190's.  This large increase has left me wondering why i would not want to use a wrist support but i was told there was an advantage to not using one.  I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on the use of my wrist support.

Just a question:

Why not throw your first ball thumbles and then use the thumb to make corner spares?

I use a combination of the Dragon for heavier oil and Robbie Revs for light to medium oil.

I think that I am more accurate with a thumb and wrist support opposed to no thumb and i take off the support to shoot at spares.

I tried to take off my wrist support for 6 and 10 pins, but I had no luck.  It just felt so different that I couldn't get a confident release.  I bowl with several bowlers that take off the wrist support for spares and are very accurate.

I started with a Pro Release but I did not like the fight on my upper part of my wrist and forearm.  I tried many other adjustable wrist supports and my favorite was Robbie Revs, long version.  I was able to use my Dragon at the US Open so I stuck with the Robbie Revs.

Good luck.
