moto, ive used abralon by hand with great success. one thing ive found is abralon is more user freindly by hand than sandpaper, meaning you can get a truer, more even pattern with the abralon than regular sandpaper.
as a side note, ive found i like abralon by hand better than on a spinner. especially if say i want to just have a ball at 4000, without going through the whole 500, 4000 process. ive been using 1000 by hand abralon for tournament shots lately and its been giving me a great look on fresh patterns like Kegel''s dead man''s curve, and The Beaten Path.
as for how to do it, i normally just start with the grip center of the ball in my palm and work around the entire ball, then start with the finger holes parallel to the floor and work around the entire ball that way too. basically applying the abralon in 2 directions.
