The Power Groove is not really 2 degrees lower than the Smash/R. The Smash/R reads the lane, but is way smoother at the breakpoint than the Power Groove. The only thing that is lower is the price tag. On dry lanes, the Power Groove is uncontrollable. I figured the Power Groove was going to be more like a Cuda 2000, but it reads the lane much earlier. If you want something for drier conditions, I would recommend something like a Hit by Storm or maybe a 2 Piece Stinger. If you want to go Brunswick with this, maybe try to locate a Purple Pearl Fuze. That was probably the cleanest Brunswick ball as far as getting down the lane I have ever thrown. Otherwise, Brunswick is not known for developing equipment for dryer conditions. Balls of choice for dry are Hit by Storm, Low Flare Stinger by Ebonite, Scout/R or Urethane Scout by Columbia. I hope this helps you out.
