Title: Vent hole in slug

I have seen many a people put a vent hole in their slug to help the thumb exit the ball faster. How much does this actually help. Was thinking about trying it, but I use Vise IT. Can I just drill a hole in the back to my slug where the indentation is to allow for a vent??
