how do you release the ball so that it does that helicopter/ufo spin?
ive seen many asians do it this way and im just curious to try it if so many of them average over 200. I myself average around 200+ but id just like to see how to do it.

This is one way to give you an idea how the Asians do it. I can do it by coming off of the side without the thumb coming over the top. Lots of fingers and hitting up on the ball for some bowlers. True spinners come more around the ball with a lot of rotation at the very bottom of the swing. Let us know how you do.

i know that most of them use really light bowling balls (10-12lbs)
It allows the ball to deflect more and hit more pins.
It is used to combat REALLY bad surfaces on extremely tough shots. So think wood that hasn't been sanded in 10+ years. Just the nastiest of stuff.

Yup, hand comes around the ball and almost on top of it, and a good spinning motion with the wrist creates this twister motion. The spinner is pretty effective on lighter conditions, because the ball needs good friction to get into a powerful finish. Otherwise, deflection risk is high.
