Very consistant?
« on: June 12, 2004, 02:49:17 PM »
I was thinking about this kid I saw at the pepsi cola tournament he would walk up and lift the ball straight up I mean all the way up what he would do was walk up lift the ball right over his head and throw it down using the speed generated by it falling for speed instead of the approach and I was wondering wouldn't that make him very consistant because he used something constant like gravity and he elimated changes in stepping speed? And if he wanted to change speed im guessing he lowers his arm swing. The only bad thing I could see about was he could hit something ouch.

NO.  How many bowlers who use a RAMP are able to MAINTAIN a high average and of COURSE there are always exceptions.  IF the bowler uses NO arm muscle to let the ball drop from that overhead height, isnt it the SAME as using a ramp?  The BIGGEST difficulty might be staying balanced at the release because holding the ball OVERHEAD and releasing the ball would require different positions unless he was doing a SLIDE step at the end.
