Very Old Manhattan Rubber Ball
« on: August 23, 2009, 01:52:22 PM »
My "new" spare ball is a 40 year plus hand be down from my dad. It is a Manhattan Rubber 16# with an engraved serial number. How can I find the age of this great spare ball? Thanks.

I got one of them as well. I forgot the exact history of the company. But it was bought out by someone in the 70s. So I'd figure your in the ball park at about 40 years. But mine is over 50. Because my great uncle bought his in NY back in the 50s.

Open all the windows when they get ready to punch that ball.

When you drill or sand a ball like that it makes a god awful smell something bad.

Yep, beware. lol. Also, I dont know if it's just mine or what but it makes my hands smell that way. Its probably because of it's over sun-exposure in the Southern VA summers. hahahahaha
