Very strange first night of winter league last night
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:58:24 PM »
Well, a first night of league like I've never seen before.  We are named team 3 for the league, the league has 18 teams, unfortunately the house has only reserved 16 lanes for our league.  In the meeting we are told that we have 25-40, the people on 17-18 are halfway through their last game of their league, we will start about 30 minutes after the rest of the league, and if we volunteer to bowl on that pair and be later, the house will comp our lineage for the first week.  Ok not all bad.  Just before that pair gets done (they're in the 10th frame) the league cooridinator says two teams in our league didn't show the team on 26, and the team on 37.  So she tells us to go on 26, but not bowl the team on 25, we will still be bowling the team we were supposed to be bowling, who will be bowling on 37.  Practice has already started and is halfway in, I inform them I need my full 10 minutes or I won't be bowling that night since I don't even have my shoes on yet.  They do restart the practice clock when we are ready, so that is not an issue.  Never bowled a team bowling on a different pair before, very odd.  Had a decent night, and put the distractions aside, but just felt the house was unprepared, and really should have just left us on 17-18 since they were almost done, but apparently, since they got us down with the rest of our league, and almost on time, they didn't have to comp the lineage, hence why they did what they did.  Overall, I guess it could have ended worse, but I'm sure another page in many peoples book of first night of league nightmares.
