« on: March 18, 2009, 02:32:49 PM »
What ball has the greatest SNAP in the back end?   I know the drilling makes a difference, but all things equal?
--------------------
High game 300, 298(no middle finger) 290, 290(no middle finger)
High series 804
High triplicate 774
High average 221
best game. when I was 6 I bowled a 158

I have a 16# morich awesome finish I want to trade.  1 season on it.    I am looking for 15# stuff

Biggest I've thrown lately has been a Storm Dark Thunder Pearl. I'm surprised more Storm/Roto stuff hasn't gotten mentioned here because that company has always been skid-snappish by default.

Surprisingly enough, a Lane #1 ball (Supernova XP) is in my top five, weird because that's a company that has traditionally defined heavy roll rather than skid/flip.

Generally speaking, I would look at Storm/Roto-Grip first, Ebonite-poured stuff second (which would include the Hammer line), but the newer stuff from the folks at 900Global is starting to get my attention, too.

Johnp, thats really not what I wanted to hear. Was that one drilled with the suggested layout? Pin 3/4" right of centerline and 3/4" above midline? I just punched mine last night and will try it tonight. I was hoping for a smooth reaction up the boards.

Yep, that's exactly how I set it up and left the surface oob.  The bowler is fairly high revs, averages around 200.  The ball goes straight quite a way, but when it turns it TURNS.  I'd like to hear if you see the same thing.

Break Pearl and S75 for me are just plain sideways on the backend!

Well, just got back from league. I decided to knock the polish off before taking it out to the lanes. I hit it with a valentino 3000 pad. I was able to play up 7-9 and it gave a ton of length and made a smooth arcy move back to the pocket. Not snappy at all with the 3000 surface. Just what I was looking for!

I just received a Rapid Fire Pearl and had it drilled in the #1 setup (for medium to dry)...the ball just jumps off of the dry...so much for my outside shot ball. The guy's I've been practicing with were laughing their butts off cause the ball absolutely nose dived when it hit the dry and I was expecting a nice easy hook to the pocket.

legend4life95 -- Glad it worked for you.  Did you throw it at all before hitting it with the 3000 grit?  And if so what was the reaction then?  --  JohnP

The Hot Sauce has the most violent backend reaction I've ever seen on a ball.  Snaps like a slingshot.

Nope. With all the input from members here, I decided to go ahead and knock the shine off before even throwing it. I knew it would make it smoother and a touch earlier, but it still gets great length now with a smooth move down lane. I think its gonna be a winner.

My Break Pearl is pretty snappy, but my Kinetic Solaris is just plain out of control!
