Comparison please - Revolt Vengeance, Primo, Melee Jab
« on: August 26, 2015, 09:02:54 AM »
Time to choose my next ball. I pretty much narrowed it down to the three balls listed above, although I'm also willing to consider the Covert Revolt, and maybe Gamebreaker2. I have personal history and reasons to choose or deny each of the three companies listed above, and I feel that may be clouding my judgment, so I'm looking for an objective opinion. Almost everything I throw is smooth rolling early, and I'm really looking for something to kick out corners better on the left-hand side with my low-rev style. I think my normal condition these days is medium oil, which may be why I've been making a mistake in my current arsenal, expecting more oil than I'm actually seeing. If I had to give further information, I would say that I'm looking for something with a little more punch then my Raptor P7.

Thanks in advance

That ball came out 6 or so years ago. That would be like me comparing the Twisted Fury to today's technology. And we don't want that now do we?
So let me ask you this since you were such a storm/roto promoter before and now all of a sudden you're up motiv's rear end. If they were to re-release the virtual gravity tomorrow you're telling me that the technology would not be good enough for today's conditions and couldn't compare to any ball on the market today since it was made over six or seven years ago. That had to be one of the dumbest comments I've ever heard you make on this site before.  Please tell me what has changed in the last 6 years I'd love to know.

I know your post isn't addressed to me, but I would like to say something about it and hopefully I don't make anyone upset....

The Virtual Gravity isn't 6 years old and balls haven't changed all that much since the Virtual Gravity compared to when the Motiv GT-1 came out, so tkkshop does have a good point.

However, I am not a Storm person and have not always had favorable results with Storm balls, but if there was a re-release of the Vrtual Gravity Nano Solid tomorrow, I would be one of the first in line to buy that ball as it is one of the few Storm balls that worked well for me and that Nano Solid worked extremely well for me. I only sold mine because I was forced to drop down in weight because of health problems.

Don't mean to add on, but for Storm, their technology advances in the last 6-10 years has not been much.  Perhpas some tweaking behind the scenes, but the Virtual Gravity would probably fit just under the Crux and be in the same line up as the Tour series balls.

Motiv however, has had a significant advancement in their coverstocks from 6 years ago when the GT-1 was released.  Ever since the release of the Primal Rage, Motiv has gotten closer and closer to the bigger name manufacturers in coverstock ability.

So in this sense, the Revolt Vengeance is a significant jump in technology compared to the GT1.

My argument was never about advancements in technology all I stated was that I thought that Brunswick had very good cover durability as well. I've thrown a lot of equipment from every company in the last 10 years but more so from Brunswick and their covers have lasted and exceeded my expectations. I never said anything negatively against motiv, they could possibly be the best covers in bowling, all I stated was the gt1 was a good ball but it never had that wow factor for me.

And by the way the storm virtual gravity was released on
11/17/08 and the motiv gt1 was released on 4/24/09.

Bottom line lefty, all 3 of those balls will probably be pretty close in reaction. Pick the color or brand you like best and giddy up!

I appreciate the thought, but sounds to me like the jab might be a step below the Primo and more angular than Primo, which is slightly earlier and more continuous.  I'm hoping that the vengeance might come up as earlier than the Jab with more angle than the Primo.

I believe with the cover on the Vengeance, it will be slightly stronger in terms of being able to handle the most oil of the 3 balls. I've only seen 1 Vengeance, it should be earlier than the other ones but I'm not sure how it would compare to the Primo in terms of angularity

I was a staff member of Storm and they do make good stuff. Now I pay for my stuff like 98% of you. I chose to spend my money on a company whose equipment doesn't quit after 50 games. But you are using Motiv's 3rd ever release as your only sample size for the company. Brunswick has progressed since the Twisted Fury. If that were my only Brunswick purchase, much like you and the GT1, would you not want me to try a newer one? See my point?

Vengeance is definitely earlier than the Jab and stronger than the Jab. I'm not sure if it creates more angle than the Primo from looking at both balls close up I think the OOB surface on the Vengance is a higher grit (it's close) the balls are pretty close
