And not just for my little girl . . problems. The shoulder's as good as new now. For those that don't know, I dislocated it in late January. I'm kinda glad it happened for bowling's sake, but just think of how many bowling balls that thousand bucks (that I paid, thank God for insurance) would have bought? Every time I go out to practice now, I dumb everything down, and find one little piece of the puzzle. Think I've almost got them all now. It only took me 3 years to undo the couple months of "changes" I made . . I've found out that yes, I have to grip the ball, yes I have to chicken wing a bit, I definitely have to delay my armswing, turn my shoulders right a little, and avoid at all costs power ovals and just stick with perfects.
Usually when I practice, I don't keep score at all, I just get a pair of lanes and bowl on the off lane. But I found when I'd try to start keeping score and pretend like I was bowling league, I'd really just bottom out and do terrible. Last night I wanted to just bowl and see what I could average for as many games as I could throw. Averaged 232 for 10 games (had a 190 in game 4, rough carry, had 7-9 counts, and a 159 game in there, baaaaad transition game, just awful, everything went wrong). I've never had terrible form, but it's not textbook, let me tell you what. The closest I can compare it to is Steve Jaros, but with a little chicken-winging, turning the ball left a little in the middle of my swing, and pulling the ball up with my wrist a tad at the height of my backswing. Everything works out at the release too, as long as I remember to delay my swing. I thought that was pretty good, especially at the house I hate, and especially adding in those two low games. Everything else was 230+. Yeah, I know, I'm still the practice scores guy, but I've been in a 3 year slump, and like I said, this is still rehab!!!
