Vinegar.

Some people i've heard use vinegar to clean things around the house, would vinegar have any positive effect on cleaning a bowling ball?

Would help with mold and bacteria if that's a problem. I work at an industrial/wholesale bakery and we use vinegar a lot for that reason, especially on metal surfaces. I'm sure it would clean a ball well, just not sure if there would be any negative issues.

Someone already beat you to it. Vinegar is the main cleaning agent, as near as I can tell, in a cleaner called Front 9. It is marketed by "Ole Roy" over on BowlingBallExchange:

I use it to clean spots on the carpeting... works wonders.  I use it diluted of course.  I also run it through the coffee maker.  I'm sure it would work well on a bowling ball.

Good for cleaning grill grates also. Vinegar is a mild acetic that breaks down grease. Throw a little baking soda and now you have a foaming abrasive cleaner. Never tried on a bowling ball though. A new clean and dull.

Vinegar is a multipurpose cleaner and great to make Asian Dishes with.

To save money on fabric softeners when washing clothes, we use vinegar with scented oils.

I used 50/50 with water to get rid of thick belt marks on my balls when I ran out of cleaners.

The same solution I used to clean the stained windows of my girls 78 Camaro. It just smell for a while.....

So, i take it mix a tsp of soda, cup of vinegar, 3 cups water, and you can clean windows, grills, bowling balls, and repel women with the scent....
