After nearly a year hiatus, I subbed for some friends in a non-sanctioned league last night.  As expected, with a year layoff, I bowled no 300's or 800's, but I did set a 226 avg.  and only had one open for the night.

Reflecting upon the evening, I realized that my talent is obviously great, for I hadn't touched a ball in nearly a year and still had a shot at 700 late in the 3rd game.  It is clear to me now, that if I were to turn pro I would be smashing Walter Ray's records in the teeth week in and week out.  After all, those guys don't shoot much better than I did, and they bowl hundreds of games per week!  If I can shoot the scores they do without any practice at all, then I am obviously a much superior bowler to them!  Just look at the scores, they don't lie, do they?

Last night I was all over the place (as expected since I was quite rusty) but I only crossed one brooklyn, and never missed the head pin (although my 1 open was a 2-4-8-10, so I nearly missed it once).  Everything else was either a 6-10, 2-8, or single pin leaves.  And let's make this clear, I was anywhere from 2 boards left of my target to a couple of times being 6 boards right (I was intending to play 17 at the arrows, out to 9-10 at the right "hash" mark downlane).  My speed was not consistent either (see the 2-4-8-10 leave again).  Yet every errant shot "corrected" itself and found it's way to the pocket.  I had a great time with the people I was bowling with (the league is full of mostly beginners), but deep down I knew that on even a fair condition, I'd have struggled.  On a demanding condition, I'd have been toast.

So in conclusion, no, I do not honestly think I'm good enough to go pro - I know better than that.  But for the "sports" community as a whole, I think I know why bowling has such a problem being taken seriously as anything more than a recreational game.

Now then, let's sit back and see how many people flame me because they became so irate after reading the paragraph where I stated I would dominate the tour that they quit reading and fired off an angry response without reading the rest of my post!

You couldn't tour.

You would be caught by the sheep act.

Transportation of sheep across state lines for use as a sexual object.

Don't forget the ones that just respond to the responses, without reading the original post.

Wow..

Sounds like you were using one of dem dar Lane#1 Dynamites balls..

Heck, anyone could go "pro" using one of those. You coulda been averaging another 10+ pins (Guran-damn-teed)..

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

c(')(') here bunny bunny bunny....

I'd have shot 750 at least if I had my Lane 1 XXXL with me!  No, I chose to handicap myself and used a Roto Grip Sonic X Solid, and a 19 year old Pink Hammer instead!
