VISE IT THUMB PITCHES
« on: December 14, 2009, 04:44:31 AM »
My driller drills the actual thumb at 0 into the slug and puts the pitch into the ball hole that the slug screws into.

I think he does this because I guess you are limited to the amount of pitch you can get out of the slug without going through the side.

I was just wondering how most proshop operators drill the VISE IT. I hear some people use the VISE IT so they can use different pitches for different releases so I'm assuming this means they are drilling the pitches in the slug..
How much pitch can you put into the slug with out going through the side ??

It really depends on the size of your thumb. If you're already need an inch and 3/8 slug, you may not be able to add too much pitch to the slug itself. If you have a smaller thumb you may be able to step up slug size and drill much more pitch into the actual slug.

I'm pretty sure I'm already using the big slug size.. And I have a pretty long thumb so that has something to do with it too..

Your driller is doing it properly!  The slug must be drilled at zero, your thumb pitch is to be drilled into the ball itself.

Yep, just as Mr880 stated... pitch is drilled into the ball.

If you are looking to play with your thumb pitches or even slight span adjustments then I suggest looking at the Turbo SwitchGrip.  More ability to make slight adjustments more than Vise IT.

That being said I prefer Vise IT and use them on all my newer stuff and have used both.

Ive gotten up to 1/4 with a 1" bit. Gotten up to 5/16" with a 55/64 bit. Its actually easier with the bigger bits since it gives you more room to install the slug-it molly. 1/8 single direction pitch changes can be  done very easily.

if you got a big thumb I say max 1/8 on 1 3/8 iT , 3/8 if you got small thumb
if he got the 1 1/2 iT then maybe you can drill 1/4. If your thumb is close to 1 inch
