My video from Reno tournament for critique
« on: September 05, 2006, 12:19:10 PM »
Hi guys, after bowling in my first big tournament over the weekend in Reno on a difficult pattern, I found a lot of flaws in my game. The shot was flooded from 8 and out, leaving a little bit of hook to work with in the middle. This part of my game I would consider my weakest. Meaning, that I have to throw the ball with soft revs up the middle of the lane. It was definitely an eye opener. I went into the tournament with a 190 avg, and after 9 games I avg'd 172.

Since I haven't posted a video on here in a while, I'd like to get some comments to see what things I should work on in the coming season (approach, arm swing, release, etc). I'm ready for the worst! Oh yeah, you need Divx to watch this video.

Haha yeah... that shot I took extra long. No one was really in a rush that day so that was not a problem. Any comments on actual mechanics?

Hey what's up P1atinumGQ,

Funny thing, I was at that tournament too! Hehe.
Where ya from man?

BTW - Form looks good, shot was pretty tough huh? Lots of hang on the outside boards and not as much hold if you tugged it. From what Jim Mars & Rick Leong told me, they used the 2005 Storm Mixed Challenge Championship shot. I am still looking for a link to that Lane Pattern, but Bowl.com doesn't have it. Oh well...

Talk to you soon,
Ram

Hey what's up Ram. I'm from Fremont. My home house is Mowry Lanes, same as Jim Mars. Where do you bowl? Yeah the pattern sure was tough. Miss right and you miss headpin, miss left and u might go past brooklyn heh.

How did you do? Thanks for the comment on my form btw. It was kind of weird though. I bowled doubles at 10am on saturday, and I did have a little hook to the right. Although marginal, it was still there. By the time they reoiled at 4pm, the lanes got very difficult. I had nothing on the lanes until game 3. Lol I bowled a 210 the final game in that set and I only bowled a 492 series! Sigh. But it was a good experience for sure. You going to be at Vegas next year?

the shot that was laid out was the storm mixed national shot that the stadium uses every fall.  i believe that the storm mixed challenge shot that ram refers to is a lot tougher than what was there this past weekend.  i bowled it last year and will bowl it again this fall.  it is somewhat flatter than the typical ths with more oil overall.  i am glad you all enjoyed the challenge.
