stupid shoe question

ok, whats the deal with interchangeable heels and soles? What are they used for? Why would you have to change them around?

I have always just used basic Brunswick bowling shoes, I got 5 yrs out of my last pair (2 yrs use) and just got a slightly upgraded pair of the same brand.

I see shoes with interchangeable soles and heels on here all the time, and have no idea why I would ever need to change my heel. Help me understand!!!!! please?

Have seen people who plant then release the ball and having the ability to change heels to match the approach could prevent a fall and/or injury. Same thing with slide plates being interchangeable.
 Also, humidity plays a part in approach condition and that can change as a/c is turned on in early summer or late spring in some places.
 I agree with your using a shoe that works. I did for several years. When I went to tourney bowling and fell on the first shot in one and wasn't able to continue the tourney is what got me to do that.

Depends on your approach... my heal catches alot and makes me about fall over so I switched to a heal with a little more slide and it works much better.

I think this depends on your footwork. I do not slide, and i very rarley have sticking problems.

I just have a pair of Dexter Marshalls. I see no need for me to have SST's has they will do absolutley nothing for me.

Lane approach conditions vary from region to region, house to house, weather and climate, and materials they are made of.  Today it is raining in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex thus the approach condition was tacky on our wood approaches.  Sometimes if the weather is really dry, synthetic approaches here are fast and slick.  The key is to have the proper consistent slide at all times.  This is done in a number of ways. Interchangeable shoe parts is just one way.
