has anyone else ever gone thru your equipment to the point of hating it all then come back to a ball and find it works just right(practice) all over again then to pick it up again and find u cant use it (league or tourney)

toomanytenpins,

I feel your pain. I don't know how many times I've retired a ball
because of the bitter beer face only to have it resurface six months
later as the you the best in the bag baby. I guess if I was better at
reading lane conditions or would lower my expectations to better fit
my ability, this phenomena would not occur.

Like you the addiction is mind boggling but at 58 I have resigned myself
to have another gin and tonic and take what the shot will give me.

Especially in tournaments, you'll see this happen MUCH MORE often than you'll ever see it in leagues, but it does happen there also.

Regarding "good ball one day bad ball next":
usually it's a case of oil pattern being enough different or bowler throwingthe ball slightly differently, rather than the ball being good or bad.

Maybe the proper wording should be, "ball appropriate, ball inappropriate to the oil pattern"???? Balls are never good or bad; they just work or don't work. It's the bowler who's good one day and bad the next. (no personal criticism intended.)
