Walter Ray Today
« on: November 09, 2008, 11:03:27 AM »
What else can anyone say about Walter Ray that hasn't already been said , 44 years old and still going strong. In the championship match gets a split was very surprised with that results , makes an adjustment and ends the game with seven strikes in a row. He averaged 251 for the two games, even for those who do not like Walter Ray's game you have got to admit he did one very good job today, wow and did he ever. I'm thinking it's possible for him to win 50 titles and then it won't be long he will be bowling senior's and should do very well there as well. Congratulations Walter great job and like the man said straighter is greater

I just cannot imagine WRW bowling on the Senior Tour.  Look how well he fares against competitors that are half his age!

Hey, Tom Baker is still exempt IIRC and he bowls on the senior tour. Theres no reason Walter couldn't double on both tours. He is obviously still the best the bowler in the world the senior tour bowlers should be scared as hell lmao.

50 Titles is more than likely, he seems to be able to compete for quite some time. Hes exempt for next year.

60 Titles might be a bit of a stretch, but I would be willing to bet the man will reach 50 before all is said and done.

His ball reaction looked better than I've seen it in a long time.  He never had that early burn weak 10.  Go WRW.

He uses the same ball all the time now so what does that say about all of us guys and gals who continue to buy more and more balls

It says that with his ability, skill, the way he rolls the ball and can stay straighter than anyone else except Norm Duke that he is the man.  Also, that fourm users like Necromancer who can't stand bowling techniques that don't stand left throw right with beaucoup revs dislike bowlers like WRW Jr.  BUT he wins and wins and wins.....what does that say????

"When you play straight the conditions become irrelevant"
WRW

Which is why he is the only bowler to be in the top 5 in average on all the PBA patterns.

The man is a machine.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he won a few more title this year.

When all is said and done and his career comes to a glorious end, he'll probably have attained somewhere between 50 and 60 titles, as well as a few senior titles.

The only thing that can slow him down is his body.  The weekly grind takes its toll, particularly on the arm/shoulder/wrist as well as the back and knees.

I have not always been a fan of his, but I admit he has won me over with his consummate perseverance and unmatched ability, and I now do believe that he most likely is The Greatest Bowler to have ever lived.

I look forward to seeing him rolling on TV on many more occasions.

Go Walter!

I haven't looked that close...but I remember in the past when he would use a companies latest ball...he would have usually two on the rack while bowling.

Often one a pin up one a less pin up....one duller, one finer grit!

Then often during qualifying he uses more balls for the tournament.

For about a two year(?) period I saw him every show with a Icon2 and an Icon.(I still use a strong hooking Icon2(I thought they were suppossed to die!).

I also remember seeing him using the Track Phenom unleashed week after week when he was on TV a few years ago...(I believe two on rack also).

Though obviously very much able to bowl with one a latest design ball from the company he represents...he has a few more variants than one would think!  But less than others no doubt!

I know last season he used the Nsane LEVRG most of the time.  However, he had several Nsane's with different layouts and cover grits.

He still uses the new releases when they come out.  He won this tourney using the Ntense LEVRG.  He probably has many Ntense LEVRG's to choose from each week.

he still proves time and time again that being able to go straight is a good thing at times. hooking the ball a ton is cool to see but doesnt always get the job done. this is most important on tougher oil patterns. him and norm duke show this. norm can for his 3 majors in a row.

The bottom line is that the one that hits down the most pins, wins!  Doesn't look as "cool" throwing down and in, but he's the one bringing home the bacon time after time.  Best ever.
