Have seen both ways done. My driller always checks everything before he drills it up. You just never know what can slip by so I think it's best to check to make sure. I know that all companies are doing the best job they can to make sure they are all marked correctly but there are always going to be the ones that get through that are mismarked.

My pro shop operator weighs the ball before he drills it.

The Pro Shop I frequent does, at times check the CG location on balls from companies that have been known for having mismarked CG's and will also check balls that have less than ideal pin outs and top weights.

He also has been spinning up almost every asymmetric piece before drilling to double check the MB locations.  It's nice to have a DeTerminator for that reason.

A good driller will not be lazy about making sure about ball weights, checking your pap, checking fit, consulting with you on what you want the ball to do, your arsenal, and watching you bowl a bit too.

on edit, good catch jmac - I forgot verifying MB...good thing I don't drill balls!

He's considered the best in the area and one of the best in the entire state.  You get your money's worth at his shop.

My guy weighs every ball before drilling. He has a DeTerminator but I've never seen him use it.

For the money he spent on it I am sure it has been used a lot. Expensive machine to just to sit around collecting dust.

I know if Dave isn't using it, I certainly am.  We were surprised at how well Tropical Storms spun up on the DeTerminator.  I'd say that a TS has more asymmetry than the Pioneers from MoRich way back when.
