Wanting a hook off my hand ball?
« on: September 11, 2009, 03:34:22 AM »
I have been out of bowling about 2 years.  Came back this summer and am now playing in a fall league.  I am a power stroker, throw about 17-18mph.  Play pretty much down and in.  When I go somewhere for a tourney and they put out a flood I can't wrinkle the ball.  I m looking for something that can get me through the flood.  Any thoughts?  Any brand

THanks in advance Burgerboy

I've seen Hammer Hot Sauces roll out at the arrows.  That should hook off your hand.....   then probably die and go very straight.

The AMB Particle and Mega Friction are both quality choices...the Ogre Particle is another option

From most of the stuff I've read, probably anything Lane#1. They all hook on any amount of oil AND are extremely clean on the dryest of condition.  Bet if you wait a month or so there might be a nice going out of business sale on their stuff.

I'll agree with mainzer. Try a Morich ball out. LevRG, Ntense, Seek & Destroy. I believe they have the biggest cores in the industry, and they can really get a ball rolling when you most need it. I've had a problem lately with speed:rev matchup. I put decent hand into it, but sometimes my speed is just a tad bit too fast. I drilled up a LevRG a few months ago, and that ball is a monster. The EZ REV core gives the ball a very strong midlane and that's what you want a lot of times on heavier volumes.

Another +1 to AMF Mega Friction.
Great ball, nice solid early roll, and good power at the pins for me,
and is even a tad stronger than my VG for me, in a flood, due to the ability to pick up a roll a little sooner.

As for a Hot Sauce, that's suppose to be hammer's longest/strongest ball, so I'd advise against that.  Maybe he meant the original Sauce, but I have the original Sauce, and the Mega Friction is still earlier and stronger for me.

As for Morich, I'm not sure if it's PBA only, or if it has anything to do with USBC, but "Morich (and Elite) did not renew their product registration with the PBA and I believe the product registrations typically renew on Sept. 1st each year. Per the release posted on the PBA boards regional players have a month (Oct. 1st) to phase these brands from their arsenal."
I don't know if that has any effect on the tournaments you bowl in, but worth mentioning.

My Awesome Hook at 400 grit has never seen too much oil.  Worked very well on the 50 ft TOC pattern.  One caveat is that it only takes a game to burn up the heads.

slow your ball speed down. any high end ball from any manfacturer hooks enough for heavy oil. if you are looking for a ball that responds quickly to friction i have seen nothing like the virtual energy. there is not a ball made that hooks in oil. good luck!

900 Global Bounty Hunter at 1000. Very strong ball with more angle than the Mega Friction if you don't have the hand to create it yourself.

Ill also advise for the Mega Friction and the Bounty Hunter, both will hook at the foul line with a early drilling, great stuff for the heavy oil patterns and longer patterns.
