Washing Micro Fiber Towels

I recently read where someone said not to use fabric softener when washing Micro Fiber Towels. What does the fabric softener do to them?

Bascially, how should the tpwels be washed?
Hot Water?
Cold Water?
Strong Detergent?
Mild Detergent?
By washing Machine?
By Hand?
Fabric Softener?
No Fabric Softener?
Etc. etc. etc.

Rule with any towel, microfiber or otherwise is to NOT use fabric softener. It hampers the absorbancy until it's washed again. Machine wash in warn with regular detergent is fine as is handwashing. Just don't use softner, period.

I was told many years ago that fabric softners prevent a fabric from absorbing liquids. While not entirely doing so, it does prevent them from being 100% effective.

Do not use fabric softner it will kill the grabbing effect of the towel.  Like putting baby oil on your particle ball.  The other questions:  cold water machine or hand, mild detergent like tide, and low heat dryer.

Fabric softeners leave a bit of a coating on cloth that inhibits the transference of static electricity.  This is nice on clothes, but you don't want it on your microfiber bowling towel.
