Title: We have the list of 5 worse reactives thrown... So what are the 5 worse particle balls thrown?

Post by: Strider on August 09, 2006, 08:48:12 PM: The only real bad one for me was the V2 Particle. Tried two different drillings and many surface modifications. Too early/strong for any medium oil, not nearly enough ball for anything heavier. I had to bury the ball deep in the pocket in order to get reliable carry. No matter what I tried, the ball burned up too much energy too early for me. I know it wasn't a bad ball, but it was a bad match up for me.

It would have been a good ball for me if I had a driller that knew what he was doing at the time. During that time, I was a REALLY low tracker. I was spinning the ball I was trying to iron that out. The ball for me at that time probably had a 1 inch pin to pap and 6 inch mb to pap at that time. So the ball didn't hook much, or as much as it should. At that time I had a cherry messenger that hooked more. I actually really like particle equipment. I like the smoother moves they take.

Post by: shelley on August 10, 2006, 12:12:51 AM: I wasn't super thrilled with the Power Groove Proactive. High-RG plus dull particle surface seems kinda contradictory. Plus as a speed-dominant bowler, I had a hard time getting it to rev up well.

I don't agree with laner7pin about the Mutant, though. Great ball, smooth as silk. It was the first Track ball I had and if all their releases are like that, it's no wonder they're one of the best companies around. I know a bunch of other players around here that were (are) big fans of the Freak series.

To me the Tornado Tps was a piece! That was a very nice ball. I shot my first honor score, 278 (open then 11 in a row), with that ball.

Post by: dizzyfugu on August 10, 2006, 07:35:44 AM: The worst particle I have thrown so far was the X Factor RE-Loaded. Not bad for the ball reaction, but the coverstock was crap. Polished, the ball would not hook at all, and I had to keep the ball constantly sanded after every set of games to keep up the performance (1.000 grit, just OOB). The ball tracked out easily and after 10 games or so, traction and hook potential were considerably reduced. It even did not handle that much oil as I expected. Was a big disappointment to me, especially after very good experience with an Eraser Particle Pearl (which I still have and use).

Track Particle and Lane #1 particle, I've had good results with both fizzled out eventually, but nowhere near as quick as the others above.

Sure, I shot my second biggest series with it, but that was playing a down-and-in line which isn't my A, B or even C game, yet it's what the conditions called for that night, and this ball (which was incapable of moving move than 3 boards for me) obliged perfectly. And yes, I threw this ball on conditions with adequate head oil.

I also had no luck with the Flipside Wow. I did redrill it with a different mapping and it worked better, but still not good.

It had a reactive coverstock with MICA and PET additives with a Mo Pinel designed core that looked like a camshaft. I had moderate sucess with the ball in both sanded and polished finishes. Wish I had another, only in 15lb this time.
