Weak Equipment *house shot*
« on: October 27, 2005, 12:17:05 PM »
So i suck at bowling, and everything over-reacts, i guess i have like senior leauge speed.  So this week i decided to throw plastic, i liked the look i was getting. Standing 20-25 hitting the 10 board, shot a 230 practicing, used it in leauge averaged 187. *coulda been better, but i missed a few spares and left a couple of splits*

I like the look im getting, but at times it hits like plastic, i leave 7 pin's. Or if my ball speed is a little to fast then it never hooks. I have a decent ammount of hand and somewhat slow ball speed, the plastic has allowed me to play straighter and be more comfortable in the area that im playing.

On to my question... What kind of week equipment could i look into to use on teh THS, that will hook more than my plastic ball and carry at the pocket? I have been thinking about the lane #1 xxl.

Yea thats urathane. Im just looking for something somewhat cheap, say if i win jackpot's with my crappy average and good shooting.

Im thinking a weak resin possibly, that would say be a two steps above plastic and a step above urathane.

Also, maybe info on urathane equipment, i have never thrown and started bowling after that era.

Buddies had that thing at like 90 bux! The dryR is like 60 there, although it isnt an a asymetric, but eh, i think i can live with that.

My driller told me he could get me an xxl for like 140 out the door, i just want something with more pop.

Im looking for cheap, seeing as i really dont need a ball, i could probally just throw the plastic for the rest of the season.

Thanks Tonx, theres some video in my profile to get an idea of my ball speed.

From looking at what you have listed in your profile, what is the problem with the Slayr.  It's designed for the drier shots.

The XXL is urethane with a dynamic core also.  Or did you mean the XXXL, which is plastic with dynamic core?  --  JohnP

XXXL sorry, i got confused.

SR Kegler, Yea it is, but with the rico drill, it is MUCH eairler than i would like it to be. I havent yet tried it out, but when i used it i had little sucess. It was very speed sensetive and i left alot of splits last time i used it.

Moe, I don't know what weight ball you throw, but I have a 16# NIB original urethane Black Hammer & a urethane Columbia Stingray that will go up on Ebay this weekend if you are interested.

Both balls are are of two piece construction which helps in the "power" dept, but by today's standards are considered weak balls.

Have you looked at the Super Trooper ? That one might do just what you are looking for, IMO

I'm slower with a bunch of hook.

I have tried Super Trooper(sometimes good) but I get a lot of backend!!!  Hits hard!!!
Panic.... Very archy and I 've had a lot of success with this ball.

Dynamic groove....occassionally outstanding success with this ball!
299 and a lot of high games

XXXL has been not so great for me!  XXL hooked the whole lane for me and hit like a sloppy marshmellow!

Rubber...surprisingly these sometimes work great for me when midlanes really moving.  Better than the XXXL.

I would suggest trying a Dry R power groove. Has worked well the one week I used it. Will still snap if I HIT THE BALL.

I have an original Black Hammer, a Slate Blue Gargoyle, and a Dry/R that I've only put about six games on.  The Black Hammer breaks the least and is all arc.  The Dry/R breaks the most and is all arc.  The Slate Blue is in between, but because of the core and layout goes longer and breaks harder on the back end (but still not a true skid/snap).  Of the three, I prefer the Slate Blue, but really haven't given the Dry/R a chance yet.  I use the Hammer mostly for spares.  --  JohnP

I have owned both the XXL, XXXL and Slate Blue Gargoyle and would highly recommend the Gargoyle for both performance and value.
