Any bowling center proprietors here?
« on: November 21, 2008, 12:32:03 PM »
What do you think about letting junior bowlers bowl for free up until the age of 13 or so?

Makes it easy to get a lot of young people interested (never mind the parents being interested) and helps build your client base for years to come.

Snack bar, arcade and vending revenue would easily offset the money lost.

Local businesses, Chambers of Commerce would give you money to help support the FREE programs you provide for the area youth and help pay for city/state tournaments etc.

I see this as a no-brainer when it comes to helping build a better future for bowling, as well as building a client base for your business in general.

I've been saying that for YEARS.

I wish I owned a bowling alley. Junior bowlers who were on my leagues would have access to coaching and free practice sessions, as well as access to sport shots.

We give 1 game a day to bowlers under the age of 18 during the summer.  We also do promos for passing grades and get a game.  Here in Oklahoma High School bowling has no cost to the bowlers.  Our youth leagues that are starting in January are very low cost.

Agreed.......your youth bowlers are the adult bowlers of the future...take care of them and they will take care of you.

On the other hand just about every youth program (not school/taxes+user fees) I am aware of in my area are not free (golf, ice hockey, Little League, youth football, etc.).  I do think much lower fees could be used to offset operating expenses by proprietors.
