Well the first day has concluded and I’m not going to spoil it for anyone but had to mention how much I’ve enjoyed the coverage. It’s only 40 miles from me but unfortunately no attendance is allowed.
Darren Tang and Matt McNeil are commentating along with a a local Matchroom stalwart who is not a bowler. However unlike watching the PBA he just rides around in the background and leaves it to the more knowledgeable people to comment.
Darren Tang was that informative that I actually sent him a Facebook message congratulating him on his hard work, the first message I’ve ever sent through Facebook. A credit to the PBA.
Matt McNeil is the most eloquent bowler I’ve ever heard. His knowledge of the game is outstanding. What a great pairing. Who ever sent these two young men over to do the commentary needs a big thank you too.
Now I’m not telling anyone the score but to watch the USA team was a privilege, not just the bowling but the team work itself. Chris Barnes is truly Captain America. He just winds up his players and they seem like they’d run through brick walls for him. His ability to read lanes in a team environment is something to watch. Awesome team play all around.
The Europe team haven’t gelled together as quickly so we’re yet to see the best of them but it’s a long tournament, first to 23 so there’s still time. I think they need to be more a team setting up the lane for each other, rather than 5 individuals.
Funny what a crowd can do for team moral, or lack of one.
If you get chance to watch it, please do I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as me.
Who said commentary doesn’t matter? It does if you get the right ones I can tell you. Randy and Stone et al had better watch out.
Roll on day two.....
