How Slow is the slowest...

Ball that you have seen thrown for a strike? At a house with quibica, me and a friend were seeing how slow we could get the ball to go. About 2 shots in, he spins the ball on the approach as fast as he can, then slowly spins it onto the lanes. The thing midlane looked like it was going to stop right there! The ball slowly made it to the headpin, hit it flush, and spun off into down the line to the ten pin, somehow knocking everything over. Speed: 1.2 mph on quibica. Can anyone beat that?

I doubt it. That is the official record as far as I am concerned.

Can't top yours, but i've seen kids use a NORMAL approach and everything in my league throw it maybe 7 or 8 and get strikes.

Actually, If we just do "official" releases that are regular, my gramma can probably win that one. She throws an 8 pound ball 5 or 6 mph and occasionally does get a strike or two. At 86 she still carries a 153. Pretty impressive considering its only an 8 pound ball, but damn, when you almost never miss a spare, I guess its pretty easy to average that high!

She also hooks the ball more than I do. She usually has to play 4th arrow when I'm playing second just to get the ball far enough right because she throws it so damn slow.

Hello everyone.  I'm new to this site, but I've been a lurker for some time.  Just had to chime in on this one due to what I saw my daughter do yesterday.  Her ball took forever to get to the pins, and she did get a strike; but the funniest thing was that the ball basically stopped when it hit.  It didn't even make it into the pit by itself.

You might have me beat on instantaneous velocity in that case. What weight ball does she throw btw, 6 pounds? I've never actually seen a 6 pound ball strike for any younger kids, always wondered if it actually happens.

I saw the same, with an 8 lb house ball.  On the old timers league I practice on, a 70+ year old woman threw the ball, couldn't be faster than 4-5MPH, and the ball hit the pocket and stopped after bouncing into the 9.  Ball sat on the deck as we laughed and got knocked in by the sweeper.

D <~~~~ Used to be terrible wiffing 10 pins.  Now through much practice, can wiff any single pin spare at any time.

You are correct.  It was a 6# house ball.  It was also the 4th time in her life that she went bowling (no bumpers either).  As far as the strike was concerned, the ball basically stopped after it toppled pin 3.  I would have to guess that the pins laying around the deck stopped the ball from going any further.  The pins just fell like dominos, but in slow motion.  Everyone around us said that they had never witnessed anything like it before.
