Help with bowling project
« on: November 09, 2011, 12:38:27 PM »
I am a student at University of Louisville and I am in a Project Management class. For my mock project, I chose to "create" a new high performance ball, such as the Mission or the Nexus (new line, but only focusing on the first in the line). I understand the production process, but there are a lot of things I don't understand.

What types of plans are laid out before starting the creation process?
How long does it take to design a core/cover/logo?
When do demo balls get sent out and when are marketing materials made?
How many people work on design, marketing, production?
How long does it take to produce all the balls sent out on the WWRD?
What types of costs do I look for?
What problems or risks occur in the production process?
What are contingency plans for these risks?
What is the order of events (i.e., is production done before marketing takes place)?

As you can see, I have a lot of questions, and honestly, I have more than this. I wrote a ball company, but they never replied, so I figured I could come here and get lots of input.

If anyone could help me, I would be very grateful. I could make this stuff up and the teacher wouldn't know any better, but I would like this to be as accurate as possible. Thank you.

Thank you very much everyone. All of this info is gold!! :)

I will be able to take everything you all said and make a great project out of it...

But don't stop there, lol...any more info would also be appreciated...honestly, I'm probably overachieving on the project, but I am interested in the topic as well and it has been great to learn more about the business side of the industry.
