Trizact pads--where and how long do they last
« on: January 31, 2004, 06:59:24 AM »
THANKS in advance everyone... I have never used these (nor my driller), I have read many posts concerning the subject; the pros and cons. I have been doing some searching on the web for prices and availability. I am not sure if I have found the "cheapest place" yet (I forgot where I have gone, they are near the top of my search list). I guess my main question is, "How many times can you use each set of disks?". I am also guessing here that you should treat "trizact" the same as "sandpaper" when resurfacing a ball. Thanks again...

straightUP7 -- Here is a link to a website that sells the Trizact.  If you have a site that sells it cheaper, please post it.  I have not yet ordered any, so cannot comment on your other questions.  --  JohnP

In general, trizact can last as long as 3 or 5 sandings. Regular wet/dry sandpaper, I throw away after use on one ball.

Charlest;

Got you buddy. ;D

in a post in the Lane #1 forum you say
quote:
3M has said use does not change the grit on Trizact. like it does with normal sandpaper. SO well used 35 micron is still 35 micron - 320-400 grit. Well used silicon carbide 320 grit sandpaper can get down to 600-800 grit. But who am I to agree with success? If it gives you what you need, fine.

and in this post you say

SO which is true? HUM?.
Kinda like open mouth insert foot?
I have used this same piece of trizact for 4 years and who knows
how many resurfacings and I can tell a difference. and yes it does work for
me.

buzzhead,

If that's your goal in life, fine.

Mind you I did not say the grit gets finer and finer; I said it lasts xxx number of sandings. English is not your strong suit, is it?
(I can be very nasty and I can play games very well, if that's what you want to do. Please, let's not do this.)

Were you the buzzhead to whom I first contributed money to your good cause this past Christmas season?

English honors in school. I was the leader of the pack in
English and Science, but never applied myself.
I was trying to be funny yet informative at the same time
if you look at my lame attempt of a smiley. If you are saying
that it is no good after 3-5 balls why is mine still cutting
at a finer rate than in the begining??? I was only trying
to point out something you said that I thought contradicted itself,
not to make enemies or pick. Sorry if I offended you. and Yes it is
the same guy.

Thanks JohnP for the info. JohnP, when I did a search for "trizact", my third listing was for "hsmproducts.com". They have several resurfacing products--blue, green, and orange disks for $1.72; cerium oxide for $3.15. I will do a cost comparison later, it's late. Any more ideas or info. Thanks CharlesT, I thought that I would read something useful from you. Someone in the past listed the grits of the different colors (sorry, I can't remember).
