Rescued from the landfill - need some ideas
« on: June 09, 2004, 10:57:22 PM »
A local center here is in the process of installing new synthetics over the old wood. As part of this process, they've pulled out the old pin decks. I have rescued a significant number of them from the landfill, where they were headed tomorrow.
Outside of the requisite table idea, does anyone have any ideas of what to do with them?

If you have enough you could use them to build a deck on the back of your house

Maybe flooring for your trophy room?

A backboard where you can put your bowling patches and hang it on the wall?

Put them side by side by side and make a unique countertop for a wetbar (maybe in/around your bowling trophy room)?

I know that in my area, there are a lot of fire companies and private clubs that have two or four lanes for member bowling. They may be interested in a newer deck than they now have, because most of these lanes are over 50 years old. Maybe there are some similar organizations in your area.

The wall mounted idea would be sort of cool except for the structural modification to the wall- I remember when a local center changed from wood to synthetic and used the old pindecks to make tables...those suckers had some weight.

I like the idea of using them to make a deck though...

As Michelle noted, maybe just build it into the wall.  Might be a better idea (and safer too!) LOL.

They measure something like 40 X 46 X 2 hardrock maple. My hubby says they're about 70 pounds apiece.
