I bowled a tournament the last 2 weekends (it lasts 8 weekends, doubles, singles, team).  The first weekend I bowled doubles and singles; 4 to a pair, temp. in the 80s, low humidity.  The shot played like a typical house shot, blended christmas tree, 6 board shot.  I watched them oil both weekends and bowled on the same pair both weekends.  Second week, 10 to a pair, temp. in the 60's (70?) a bit more humid.  Shot played like a very hard wet/dry at 7 board.  I shot 655 and 715 the first weekend, 640 the second with about 5 mph more ball speed.  Guys that averaged 230 shot 600 the second week.  I've rarely, if ever, seen the same oil pattern play as differently.  Some were saying that it was unfair.  What do you think?

Many factors fro week to week will change the pattern.  Weather is a huge factor and the 10-20 degree difference and the extra humidity you mention might be big enough to cause the extra friction.  Certian lane surfaces will only magnify the differences in the weather.

Other things to take into account - How much open play was in the house the prior week? How many leagues on that pair during the week? Do they oil everyday? Had they oiled previously that day already?  

Those are some of the factors out of the control of the house and the ones most bowlers should be aware of.  Especially over a 2-week tournament you have to expect the lanes to play different tighter or otherwise.

Outside of human error lanes can play extremely different from week to week at most houses.

In my experiences, which is limited, but it seems more humidity regardless of temperature will create more friction on the lanes.  Perhaps that was it?
