High Track
« on: April 01, 2004, 12:57:54 AM »
Ok, ive been rolling with this track for almost 4 months now.  it seems to carry very well and i'm pretty consistent with it.  i first started getting it with my Storm Trauma and i was shocked when it came back and the track was maybe an 1/8 inch away from the thumbhole and maybe a 1/4 inch away from the middle finger hole.  This is the weirdest track i have ever seen besides a full roller.  its strange because i can take any ball and roll it with that track.  i don't mind it its just i'm having problems finding a good ball for toasted lanes now.  and i also can't lower the track any for some reason.  any comments on this or what i should do about the dry lanes would be appreciated.  thanks.

Try a ball with less surface aka a "dry lane ball"

AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

well lets see.  i already have a columbia wild.  and i just recently took my storm trauma and polished it up to 2000 so that i'd have a ball that would go long and snap.  the trauma is the first ball that i was getting the high track on.  then next thing i new it was on all of my balls.  but its weird.  the ball i have the lowest track on is my track mutant.  my heavy oil ball.  i'm not really complaining cause i like the pin action.  its just ive never seen a track like this.  also it doesn't matter what ball i use on any condition the track is still in the same area.  unless the lanes are completely toasted and i'm trying to use the mutant or something.  not very knowledgeable when it comes to drilling but if you want i could probably go get my stuff and tell you the drilling on my 4 strike balls.

Well there is forward roll and early forward roll.  Your track indicates a bunch of grab at the bottom with the thumb plus a little bit of overturn.  If you focus on clearing the thumb and reducing the grip pressure you should be able to lower your track.

You are having trouble with dry lanes becausing your release is causing the ball to read too early.

Hope that helps.

Side note:  Strong cores like the Morpheus are known to lower the track.
