Stopped by to watch the position round of the Thursday Scratch League at my local house. They bowl in blocks during the season, and the winners of the blocks bowl in a roll off for the league championship at the end of the season, (last night). I get off work at 10:30 at night thinking I might be able to see the end of things. Turns out during league, the laneman realized the machine wasn't putting any oil out after stripping at lane 11. Doesn't think it's a big deal so he starts oiling at 11 on not correcting 1-10. Series' under 400 were shot, games of 88, 103, etc. They re-oil 1-10 a playoff to get to the roll off because of a tie for the last block (which they decided to use a 3 game playoff for instead of 1 game.) Match play between the block winners starts around midnight, and in the 10th frame of the second to last match the girl on one of the teams is gone, and they couldn't find her so the teams agree to skip her (turns out she got sick and threw up), she comes back after everyone else has completed the 10th needing a strike and a mark to win it for her team. She strikes leaves a 2 pin and covers for a 1 pin victory. Her team lost in the final match which ended at 3:02 a.m. I think there may be an adjustment to the league rules next year. Fun to watch, but I don't know what I'll be good for at work tonight.
