Im probably closer to a stroker than a tweener and usually bowl at a house with a flatter shot or on sports patterns. Its tourney season now and a couple of the houses that hold them put out a heavy walled shot. Im talking complete flood in the center and as little as 3 units outside of 10. Most of the house bowlers there are crankers or use metal robo arm supports and put a ton of side rotation on the ball, and they score well doing so, lots of people average 220 and up there. So with the THS up for the tournaments, if you want to do well you need to post high scores or nothing. Its our state tourney so I would like to be able to compete.
The problem im having is that everyone either plays the track area or just inside it. After 3 games there is a huge over under that forms. Today using my TNV in oob, or my Widow at 2000, Standing on 20 if I played outside 10 the ball would kick too hard off the dry and go high. If I tried to play inside 10, or move in deeper there was so much oil either ball would go almost completely strait and I would either come up light or leave 5's and 5 7's. I had to hit 10 on the nose and keep my speed up to stay in the pocket, and im not very consistent when I have to do that. If it was like that for everyone then fine, but the crankers and robo arms seem to have all sorts of area on this shot, so I know im doing something wrong, either picking the wrong line or using the wrong equipment. The TNV is pin up with a 45 degree layout, #1 drilling on the sheet and has worked well from me at other houses, ive never seen this kind of over/under even on burnt lanes.
Im going back to practice again and will bring a polished particle to see if that helps the over/under in the track area, and my Scorchin to see if it will recover playing deeper in the oil. Any ideas or suggestions would be apprectiated. This is very fustrating because ive improved my game a lot in the last year and do well on tougher shots, so I SHOULD be able to kill an easy walled up house shot, by my lack of experience on them is not allowing me to do so.
Thanks
