801 with "dead" X-Factor
« on: December 09, 2004, 04:23:21 AM »
So anyway, last week the Mrs. decides she needs to replace her X-Factor because it doesn't move or hit like it used to.  Seeing an opportunity to get another hand-me-down I asked her for the ball.  I decided to plug the thumb and move it down to fit my span, leaving it setup as is (pin above bridge, cg kicked out slightly, with rad just next to the thumb towards the PAP). Seeing how we both use finger inserts I figured this would be the cheapest way to fit it so I could throw it.  Picked up the ball last Saturday and threw it in our every-other mixed league, shot 243 - 279 - 279 for an 801 series, my first 800.  The sad part is the league is not sanctioned.
Needless to say, O'm kinda anxious to see what this dead horse can do this week in my sanctioned league.

Lol, I almost like my X better "dead" than new.  It's a lot smoother and more like the ultimate control ball.

LOL...My old X-Factor just got better with age!!  However, I'm one of the rare people in my area to have hit the entire ball with a Scotchbrite pad prior to ever throwing it.  I noticed that most people in my area were having slight under/over issues with the ball until it got worn in a bit.  I skipped the break in period and felt like I had a better ball with it scuffed.

If I happen to get another one (dropped weight to 15) I will do the same exact thing to it.

I usually bring my original X-factor with me, the ball still hits at certain houses and gets me out of a jam sometimes

Thanks kid.
Yeah, me and the Mrs. both throw 15 lb. balls.

Update: Bowled 612 series with X-Factor in sanctioned league last night (was carrying 220 average).  Oh well, back to reality.
Happy holidays everyone.
