What ball do you..
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:27:09 AM »
currently own that leaves the most ten pins?  For me, hands down, my 900 Global Bank.  No matter the angle, the surface, whatever, that darn ball just leaves more ten pins than any other ball I use.  Anyone else have a ball like this?

Great point vkowalski1970.  I understand why your 505T would work....for me it's a 920T even at 2000 abralon and a stronger layout tight flare lines and I can play out where others would not get the continuation that I do.

Foolishly I sold it in one of my weaker moments and since found a NIB one form tekneek.

Anyone notice that the majority of these balls are extremely strong solids with duller covers? Usually means these balls are using way to much energy in the front part of the lane to carry the 10......Polish!!!! Or drill these kind of balls a bit weaker.....Its very hard to use these on THS. I didnt believe it either until I had issues with 2 very strong(covers) balls and had to have them redrilled to be serviceable on THS. On THS I can use a strong pearl with success but not a strong dull solid very often or atleast past game 1. I am not exactly a cranker and I have seen the light. The only solid I have success with dull on THS is the Track 505T. I have a 715T(mid performance) which is also too strong for THS.

I disagree.  It reads like a list of strong covers with strong layouts used on the wrong condition.  There are no bad balls just bad match ups.

Thank  you Scott for making that point.I was wondering how long

it would take for someone to realize that.Just bad drilling and ball match-up

for the lane, person, etc. Also bad releases, wrong angle, wrong coverstock

surface.

+1 Scott
I personally think the ball companies are making balls way too strong, anyone with any hand in the ball will have issues on todays THS....these strong balls are great on tournament conditions ( my 715T and CSystem 3.5) but arent worth a shit on THS. The lower range balls drilled a bit stronger seem to work on THS.
The Track 505T is great on THS until the heads start to fry. One of the best THS balls Ive ever had is the Roto Grip Dark Star($129), weaker ball drilled stronger and its a beast!
I just bought a Global 900 Bank Pearl last night to see if I can get it to really open up the lane on a fresh shot, its strong( I threw it a bit last night) but is very clean upfront so Im pretty sure it will do a good job..

Thanks Scotts33 for posting the obvious!

Guys....as a rule....for me.....anytime I start leaving a lot of back row pins, in general, I need a shinier cover. And especially ten pins.

Sometimes the ten pin problem can be solved by moving a half step up, or moving a half step back, but if that doesn't get it, I just go to a slightly shinier piece!! The piece you are using is just too dull!

Kenetic Energy -- 10 pin all day

I dont recommend that ball even though it gets down the lane good and looks nice

Lately, it seems like every ball I throw leave ten pins.
People tell me something like a lane resurface or new oil machine or new oil they are using, forgot what they actually said. Could this be true?

True or not, it's frustrating =/

Well I disagree with all you "macho men" who can throw low end balls on THS, perhaps you are the same guys with your feet stapled to the "big dot" and force balls up/into friction? Im guessing yes. In my neck of the woods the puddle is so tall in the middle of the lane the stronger balls are necessary & used by the better players because the strong covers blend the wet/dry and strong cores go through the pins much better. Fyi, my Invasion is high pin, 5 inches from my axis, so im not out there throwing a 3 3/8 by 3 3/8 Invasion complaining about the ball farting out at the arrows. So before you guys dismiss us about using strong balls, do your homework first.

My Dynothane Thing has always been a 10 pin magnet.  I had an odd drilling that worked pretty decent, but made it a little condition specific.  After the re-drill, I just can't get it to face the pocket correctly no matter the surface.  It looks good through the mid lane and break point, but it runs out of gas just a little early right in front of the pocket.  After thinking of my Bite, maybe I need to look at the Thing's flare rings.  If they're too tight, maybe a P3 or P4 weight hole would give it more continuation down lane.

Doesn't matter what I throw, I still leave more than my share of 10 pins.
